Our mission is to work hand in hand with communities in southeastern Baja California Sur, connecting people with citizen science projects and sharing meaningful scientific knowledge that inspires collective action to protect and care for the region’s ecosystems.

The Southeast Region covers 160 km of coastline between San José del Cabo and La Paz, in the state of Baja California Sur, Mexico (view map). Its almost intact natural beauty has led to accelerated tourist and urban growth in the last decade, so good planning between residents, businesses and the government is essential.

WHERE WE WORK

LEARN MORE AND PARTICIPATE IN ONE OF OUR PROGRAMS BASED ON THREE COMMUNITY COLLABORATION STRATEGIES:

Research

We fund and facilitate the generation of key scientific information for the region and ensure that it is shared with the entire local community, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers.

Education

Through the co-creation of curricular programs and field experiences with local teachers, we inspire students in the region to actively generate and participate in projects that promote sustainable development in their communities.

Communication

We share key information about the importance and fragility of our coastal ecosystems with residents, visitors, and other stakeholders through digital and printed media, as well as events and conferences at our Environmental Education Campus in Cabo Pulmo.
